Welcome aboard! As a new JSL employee, you've probably received a JSL laptop. If that's the case, we'll need to set up two factor authentication on your JSL laptop. We'll complete the following sections together below to finish setting up two factor authentication:
- Navigating to Sign-In Options on JSL devices
- Configuring PIN Authentication with JSL Device
-
Configuring Phone Bluetooth Authentication with JSL Device
- Requires Mobile Device with Bluetooth enabled - Test the Configuration
Let's get started!
Navigating to Sign-In Options on JSL devices
To find the sign-in options available:
- Click the search bar on the bottom taskbar.
- Search Sign in Options and click Open when the option appears.
- The Sign-in Options window will open.
Configuring PIN Authentication with JSL Device
- Select the PIN (Windows Hello) option and click Set up.
If the Set up option is greyed out and you see Change PIN appear, you've already configured your PIN, skip to the next section.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to configure the PIN.
Configuring Phone Bluetooth Authentication with JSL Device
From the Settings window:
- Select Bluetooth & devices on the left side.
- Ensure the Bluetooth setting is turned On and click + Add device.
- When the Add a device menu appears, select Bluetooth.
- On the phone, go to your Bluetooth settings menu and ensure Bluetooth is turned on. Keep the Bluetooth settings menu open on the phone.
- On the JSL device, find the phone in the Add a device window and click on the phone’s name to connect.
- The window will display a 6-digit number that will be passed to the phone. Do not click connect yet.
- On the phone, you should see a Bluetooth pairing request from the JSL device with the same 6-digit code, click Pair.
- On the JSL device, now click Connect.
- The phone is now successfully paired to the PC.
Note: The phone's Bluetooth and Laptop's Bluetooth must both be enabled when operating the JSL laptop. If either of these are turned off, you will be locked out.
If this is the case, you will need to re-enable Bluetooth. If you are still unable to login, connect your laptop to the internet and contact JSL IT at helpdesk@jsltechinc.com for assistance.
Test the Configuration
Once you've completed the steps above, you're ready to test it out!
- Lock the computer by pressing Windows Key + L
- You should see your username followed by a PIN prompt, enter the PIN (not password) you configured.
- The computer will automatically attempt to scan if your phone is nearby and say Additional Factor Verified. No action is required on your end.
- Once verified, you will be brought back to the desktop screen.
With that, you're all set!
